I Rest in My Father

Robert:
My prayer today: I rest in You, my Father. I would listen to Your Voice and follow Its kind and gentle guidance through the day. I would let It show me the Love in every moment. I would let It teach me to see beyond all form to the safe and changeless eternal present where I am at Home in Love. I thank You for Your gifts, my Father and I would share them with all.

Mary:
My opportunity today is to remember that I rest in God. This means remembering that I rest in peace… I rest in joy… I rest in happiness… My awakening lies in my willingness to remember this truth. I am willing.

Being Prepared with Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit to Robert:
It is not a sin to think about the future. It neither serves you to be afraid of thinking about the future nor to obsess about the future. Just be mindful to always let Me guide your thoughts in the present moment. Your obsession about the future stems from a fear that you are alone and that the future holds danger for you, especially if you are “unprepared.”

I am always prepared, for I am not limited by time. Let yourself stay in peace and join with Me, letting Me guide all your thoughts. With this practice you will always be prepared, for you are joined with Me. Remember the WNYHOO dance: Step back; step aside, let Me guide.

Holy Spirit to Mary:
What are you and Where are you in truth? The truth is you are Love in the Mind of Love. Let yourself remember this as often as possible today. Your willingness to remember the truth about yourself will bring with it peace and happiness. It is worth the vigilance. Have a happy day!

Choosing the Helpful Guide

Robert:
The temptation I am most aware of right now is attempting to “look into the future.” It seems to be a minute by minute temptation to anticipate and plan for the future. It’s so easy to slide into making plans and thinking about “what if’s” and “what could be done.” It does not seem that this is a rejection of my safety in God, yet it is clearly attempting to leave the Holy Spirit out of the process and take control on my own.

Anticipation is lack of trust. What seems to add confusion is that I am wanting to be open to Holy Spirit’s lead and it seems that by planning and anticipating, I may be being open to Holy Spirit’s inspiration (or so I tell myself.) The bottom line is that it’s not for me to figure out on my own. I just need to be vigilant for peace. It is peace that opens the door to Holy Spirit’s inspiration.

It’s okay if I cycle frequently through independent planning, then recognizing I’m shutting Holy Spirit out and stepping back into peace to welcome Holy Spirit. It doesn’t matter if I have to do this many times an hour. I just need to keep being vigilant. This practice progressively loosens my attachment to being alone and strengthens my awareness of oneness in Spirit. Today is another happy day of vigilance.

Mary:
This is what stood out to me in our reading of A Course in Miracles today:

We have seen that there are only two parts of your mind. One is ruled by the ego, and is made up of illusions. The other is the home of the Holy Spirit, where truth abides. There are no other guides but these to choose between, and no other outcomes possible as a result of your choice but the fear that the ego always engenders, and the Love that the Holy Spirit always offers to replace it. (ACIM, W-pI.66.7:2-5)

This reminds me to remember throughout the day which part of my mind I am joining with, the ego or the Holy Spirit. If I am experiencing anything but perfect happiness, peace and joy, it is a signal that I have joined with the ego. My job today is to be vigilant of what I am joining with and to take everything that is not perfect Love to the Holy Spirit to shine His Light on it. What is untrue will be undone in Holy Spirit’s healing Light.

Do I want to be happy today? If I do, then I will be vigilant to consistently join with the Holy Spirit. As I am willing to do this I will remember that everyone is safe at Home with me in Heaven. We are one Light; there is no distance between us. Hooray that only the truth is true and nothing else is true. Hooray that we cannot step outside of the peace and safety of God’s Love. I give thanks to remember once again that only Love is real.

Accepting God’s Garden of Love

Mary:
This morning in our reading, this message in A Course in Miracles carried deep meaning to me:

You have reached the end of an ancient journey, not realizing yet that it is over. You are still worn and tired, and the desert’s dust still seems to cloud your eyes and keep you sightless. Yet He Whom you welcomed has come to you, and would welcome you. He has waited long to give you this. Receive it now of Him, for He would you have you know Him. Only a little wall of dust still stands between you and your brother. Blow on it lightly and with happy laughter, and it will fall away. And walk into the garden Love has prepared for both of you. (ACIM T-18.VIII.13)

From this message I see that my job today is to continue to give welcome to the Christ Mind. As I am willing to open up to the Truth, I will recognize that the ancient journey is over and that we all continue to abide in the Christ Mind because we never left. We are just willing to become aware of it now. And in this place of happy laughter, we become aware of the joy and peace that is forever ours. Accepting this state of joy and peace is my practice today. Accepting God’s Garden of Love is what today is for.

Robert:
It’s getting more and more clear to me I need to withdraw all meaning I have given to any form in the world. No form can bring me happiness or unhappiness, peace or distress. It is only the meaning I give anything that leads me Home to where I am in truth or turns me away toward the hell of separation. Letting go of the meaning I give to anything is forgiveness. To see as my Self sees, this letting go is essential. This is what removes the barriers to Love’s presence.

I see that I have many habits that lead my thinking down divergent paths of separation. But habits can be changed. I need only be vigilant to recognize the diversion and choose again to welcome the vision of my Self. Today is another happy day of vigilance.

The Strength We Share

Holy Spirit to Robert:
There is a Strength in you that is as mighty as God Himself, for It is what He is. To trust in this Strength is to trust in your Self, to trust in What you are. Because of this Strength in you, you are perfectly safe and conflict free. It is only your belief that you have succeeded in separating from this Strength that leaves you feeling weak and vulnerable. This is a self-deception.

Whenever you perceive yourself as defensive, fearful or vulnerable, remind yourself, “This is not what God would have me be. His Strength is mine and I would see it in all my brothers.” It is the recognition that you share God’s Strength with all your brothers that makes it real to you. It is in the joining that you remember your oneness with God.

Mary:
It is my job today to see the Light of Truth in every brother. As I remember this I say mentally to him/her: “In truth we are the same Light in the Mind of God. There is no distance between us.” As I am willing to remember the truth in every brother, I release myself and my brother from the ego dream of separation. This is how I can be truly helpful. This is my practice for today.

What Is Time For?

Robert:
What is time for? I answer this question for myself in every moment. If I am feeling fearful, angry, guilty, sad or worried about what is to come, I am using time to make separation seem real. When I practice letting Holy Spirit be my interpreter of everything I see and experience, and let Him help me let go of the past, I use time as a means to wake up from the dream and remember my true Identity.

This choice is made in every moment. It is the choice between hell and Heaven, imprisonment and freedom, illusion and reality. Today I will practice choosing the path to Heaven and I am grateful that the Holy Spirit is in my mind to guide me.

Mary:
This morning I received a very simple message for my practice for today: “Let go and let God.” My practice is to remember this as frequently as possible today, and practice what it says. That’s all I need to remember — let go and let God.

As I practice this right now, I feel a gentleness and a sense of ease that I did not feel before… It really works! I am going to be gentle with myself today by letting this be my guiding Light all through the day. “Let go and let God.” That is all I need.

Anticipation

Holy Spirit to Robert:
Anticipation is a form of thinking about the future. It can be applied to the desirable and the undesirable. But because it is in time and not attending to now, it is illusion and does not serve you. It blocks your awareness of the quiet joy that is here now.

Be vigilant for thoughts of anticipation and offer them to the Holy Spirit, leaving them in His hands to wash them clean of empty images and return to you the Love that is all meaning. As you use this practice to let go of meaningless thoughts in time, you let go of the world — you forgive. It does not seem that anticipation is unforgiveness, but it is an attempt to make a world in time, independent of God. To know your Self in God, the world in time must be let go, for it stands between you and the awareness of changeless Love.

Let today be a day of practicing vigilance against anticipation and for the happy present.

Mary:
It often seems daunting to remember that there is no time — there is no past and there is no future. There is only the eternal present in the Mind of Love. But just because it seems daunting doesn’t mean that it is a lesson to be put off or delayed. This lesson is here for me now and the circumstances are putting this lesson right in my face. I know that every lesson that comes to me is there to help me see what is not truly helpful and, with Holy Spirit’s help, move past it to greater freedom.

The truth is only God is here now and forever. I can’t be outside of Heaven. My opportunity today is to accept the truth as true and not try to replace it with stories of a past or future. My opportunity today is to relax, step back and let the Holy Spirit carry me into the awareness of the eternal present. Here there is no anticipation, because there is no future and no past. Today is a perfect opportunity to allow my mind to be healed by the Holy Spirit, our one true Self. And I give thanks.
